Standard #11: Technology Standards for Teachers

Effective teachers model and apply the National Educational Technology Standards for Students (NETS•S) as they design, implement, and assess learning experiences to engage students and improve learning; enrich professional practice; and provide positive models for students, colleagues, and the community.

EDU 110 Artifact 1 reflection

I created a Padlet on virtual field trips. Each post on the Padlet has a description of what the virtual field trip is and links to be able to get there. For example, I have one virtual field trip to the farm which gives you links to be able to take virtual tours of the farm as well as online activities letting kids explore food making activities, like raising pigs and making milk and cheese. This artifact connects to Maine Common Teaching Standard 11 because it demonstrated how technology can engage students in learning.

Having activities online can be helpful because it keeps kids engaged in the classroom and gets them excited to learn. Instead of just lecturing about farms you can bring excitement to your classroom by looking at real life scenarios. Virtual field trips provide many opportunities to be able to see things that you might not be able to physically go to.

EDU 110 Artifact 2 reflection

I created  a list of resources for teachers who want to address technology and equity and diversity. Each bullet point on the list gave the resource and the way it could be used in the classroom. For example, I have one bullet point that is from PBS. I put the link to the resource and wrote, “PBS LearningMedia offers a collection of multimedia resources addressing equity and diversity. Teachers can utilize these videos, lesson plans, and interactive activities to engage students in discussions about diversity, bias, and inclusion.” This artifact connects to Maine Common Teaching Standard 11 because it demonstrated how technology can engage students in learning.

In your teaching career ahead, having a good list of resources can be super helpful. Sometimes you might feel unsure about how to add certain topics to your lessons, and having a list can show you what to do next. These resources can be all sorts of things like books, websites, videos, and lesson plans. They help make your teaching better and keep things interesting for your students. Plus, they let you stay up-to-date with new ideas in education. With a great list, you can adapt your lessons to suit different students and make learning fun. So, having a bunch of resources ready gives you the boost you need to be an awesome teacher!
